Three Skills Kids Need To Know For College
High school is jammed with requirements for the college-bound high school student - three of four hours of a lab for science, four years of English, high-level math, foreign language - not to mention all the standardized tests! But there are three skills that maximize all students’ chances of success at college. Each of these skills hinges on high level thinking, maturity, and organization. This workshop will discuss what parents can do to help develop in these essential skills, in their students..

Reading With A Multi-Sensory Approach
Research indicates that about 30% of students don’t learn to read without specific instruction, and many parents are searching for an effective way to teach their child to read. Developed in the 1930’s, the Orton-Gillingham approach continues to be considered the “gold standard” for teaching students how to read. This approach is especially useful with students with dyslexia or students that need a multi-sensory learning approach. In this workshop, you will learn what the Orton-Gillingham approach is and how this phonics based, multi sensory approach can help your student enjoy higher level reading success. This approach is used for younger students learning to read and older students who struggle.

Any Student Can Read Shakespeare
Knowledge of Shakespeare is indispensable to every student, but it's often so poorly taught that students want nothing to do with it or believe its only for those who seek a literature major. A homeschooling dad in CT thinks otherwise, and his online Shakespeare courses have transformed reluctant students all over the country into ardent Shakespeare fans. In this compelling workshop he shows how it's done. This workshop would benefit students in middle/high school and their parents.
